It is a sound nutritious substitute or supplement for human milk to be used when breastfeeding is unsuccessful, inappropriate or stopped early.
Enfalac Iron-Fortified With DHA Precursors powder provides levels of nutrients that closely approximate those in human milk to assure normal growth and development of full-term infants.
Distribution of calories in Enfalac Iron-Fortified With DHA Precursors is nearly identical to that in human milk.
Protein in a ratio of whey 60%, casein 40% and at a level of 2.2 g/100 cal provides an appropriate quantity of high quality protein that ensures normal growth of the infant.
Fat is a combination of palm olein, coconut, high oleic safflower and soy oils at a level of 5.5 g/100 cal which provide a fatty acid pattern and level very similar to those of human milk.
Carbohydrate is provided by lactose, the carbohydrate in human milk at a level of 10.4 g/100 cal.
Minerals are provided in a full complement at levels within the range of human milk and with calcium:phosphorus ratio of 1.5:1.
All the necessary vitamins are provided within the ranges for infant formula recommended by the FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarius Commission in its "Recommended International Standards for Foods for Infants and Children".
