Indications
Enfalac Iron-Fortified With DHA Precursors powder is designed for feeding of full-term, healthy infants and for sick babies who do not have special nutritional requirements and for supplementary use with breastfeeding.
Dosage
Boil fresh water for 10 min. Cool boiled water to 40°C then pour correct amount into clean feeding bottles. Keep bottles capped until use. At feeding time, use the scoop included in the can to add 1 level scoop (4.3 g) of Enfalac Iron-Fortified With DHA Precursors powder to each 30 mL (1 fl oz) of water. Do not press powder into scoop. Always add powder to water.
Special Precautions
Do not use fewer scoops than directed, since overly diluted feedings will not provide the nutrition the infant needs, potentially leading to malnutrition with poor growth and development.

Do not use more scoops than directed, since overly concentrated feedings will not provide the water the infant needs, potentially leading to dehydration and other serious medical consequences.

Failure to follow boiling instructions could be harmful to the health of the baby.

Storage
Prepared Enfalac Iron-Fortified With DHA Precursors formula not fed immediately should be stored in the refrigerator and used within 24 hrs.

Mechanism of Action
Enfalac Iron-Fortified With DHA Precursors powder with whey protein has been formulated to provide infant formula with the nutritional characteristics of breast milk as close as current technology could permit. It is a sound nutritious substitute or supplement for human milk to be used when breastfeeding is unsuccessful, inappropriate or stopped early.

Enfalac Iron-Fortified With DHA Precursors powder provides levels of nutrients that closely approximate those in human milk to assure normal growth and development of full-term infants.

Distribution of calories in Enfalac Iron-Fortified With DHA Precursors is nearly identical to that in human milk.

Protein in a ratio of whey 60%, casein 40% and at a level of 2.2 g/100 cal provides an appropriate quantity of high quality protein that ensures normal growth of the infant.

Fat is a combination of palm olein, coconut, high oleic safflower and soy oils at a level of 5.5 g/100 cal which provide a fatty acid pattern and level very similar to those of human milk.

Carbohydrate is provided by lactose, the carbohydrate in human milk at a level of 10.4 g/100 cal.

Minerals are provided in a full complement at levels within the range of human milk and with calcium:phosphorus ratio of 1.5:1.

All the necessary vitamins are provided within the ranges for infant formula recommended by the FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarius Commission in its "Recommended International Standards for Foods for Infants and Children".

Clinical studies with Enfalac Iron-Fortified With DHA Precursors have shown excellent acceptance and tolerance in normal, full-term infants and efficient absorption and utilization of fat, nitrogen, calcium and phosphorus in healthy growing low-birth weight infants.
