Permethrin is safe and effective in children 2 years of age and older. Data on safety and effectiveness in children between 2 and 23 months of age are limited. This product should therefore only be used in this age group on the advice and supervision of a physician. Avoid contact with eyes or mucous membrane. Should this happen, wash thoroughly with plenty of water. Not recommended for infants less than 2 months of age.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation: There are no adequate or well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Problems in humans have not been documented. Therefore this drug should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Although it is not known whether permethrin is distributed into human milk, it has been shown to have tumorigenic potential in some animal studies. Therefore consideration should be given to discontinue nursing temporarily or withholding the drug while the mother is nursing.
