Aspirin
Indications/Uses
Platelet aggregation inhibitor in prophylaxis of MI, transient ischemic attacks or stroke, thromboembolism & vascular occlusion.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 tab daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to aspirin & NSAIDs. Bleeding ulcers, haemorrhagic states, angioedema, nasal polyps associated w/ asthma, thrombocytopenia, haemophilia or other bleeding problems, including coagulation of platelet function disorder.
Special Precautions
Severe renal or hepatic impairment. Stomach ulcer. Severe indigestion. Can cause stomach bleeding. Asthma, gout. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <16 yr.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances eg nausea, dyspepsia & vomiting.
Drug Interactions
Increased Cmax & AUC w/ dipyridamole. Reduced serum conc w/ corticosteroids. May enhance activity of coumarin anticoagulant, sulfonylureas, hypoglycemics, methotrexate, phenytoin & valproic acid. Inhibit action of uricosuric agents.

B01AC06 - acetylsalicylic acid ; Belongs to the class of platelet aggregation inhibitors excluding heparin. Used in the treatment of thrombosis.
