Anagrelide HCl
Indications/Uses
Treatment of patients w/ thrombocythemia, secondary to myeloproliferative disorders, to reduce the elevated platelet count & the risk of thrombosis & to ameliorate associated symptoms including thrombohemorrhagic events.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially, 0.5 mg qds or 1 mg bd for at least 1 wk. Dose may be increased by not >0.5 mg/day in any 1 wk. Max dose: 10 mg/day or 2.5 mg as single dose.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Known or suspected CV disease, renal insufficiency & hepatic dysfunction. Monitor blood count, liver & renal function. Lactation. Childn <16 yr.
Adverse Reactions
CHF, MI, cardiomyopathy, cardiomegaly, complete heart block, atrial fibrillation, CVA, pericarditis, pulmonary infiltrates, pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary HTN, pancreatitis, gastric/duodenal ulcer, seizure. Asthenia, fever, headache, malaise, abdominal pain, palpitations, tachycardia, GI disturbances, edema, dizziness, paraesthesia, cough, dyspnea, pharyngitis, pruritus, rash.
