Amlodipine besylate
Indications/Uses
HTN. Chest pain due to angina pectoris or vasospastic angina.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Initially 5 mg once daily up to 10 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Very low BP, ischemia, heart failure, aortic stenosis, unstable angina pectoris.
Special Precautions
Heart failure. Reduced renal & hepatic function. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn & adolescents <18 yr. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, sleepiness, dizziness, weakness; palpitations; nausea; GI disturbances.
Drug Interactions
β-blockers, ACE-inhibitors, α1-blockers, diuretics, diltiazem, ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir, clarithromycin, erythromycin, telithromycin, nefazodone, rifampicin, rifabutin, St. John's wort, dexamethasone, phenobarb, phenytoin, carbamazepine, nevirapine.
