Dosage/Direction for Use
Duodenal ulcer Initially, 40 mg daily taken at night for 4-8 wk. Maintenance: 20 mg daily taken at night. Benign gastric ulcer 40 mg daily taken at night for 4-8 wk. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome Initially, 20 mg 6 hrly (higher dose in patients who have been receiving another H2-antagonist), max 800 mg daily. Relief of GERD, prevention & treatment of esophageal erosion or ulceration assoc w/ GERD 20 mg bd.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 15 min-1 hr before meals.
Special Precautions
Exclude gastric malignancy prior to initiation of therapy. Impaired renal function. Pregnancy & lactation, childn.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, dizziness, constipation & diarrhoea.

A02BA03 - famotidine ; Belongs to the class of H2-receptor antagonists. Used in the treatment of peptic ulcer and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
