The product contains 1% of the active ingredient clotrimazole.
Clotrimazole penetrates the affected layers of skin and attacks the fungus, with the consequence that the fungus dies or is inhibited in its growth.
Canesten Pumpspray 1% is indicated for the treatment of tinea pedis (Athlete's foot) and tinea cruris only.
If the product has been prescribed by a physician, follow any instructions the physician may have given the patient.
If the patient has purchased this product without a prescription, carefully follow the direction that follows: This product should not be used for more than 2 weeks.
Canesten Pumpspray 1% is to be applied thinly by 1-2 depressions of the spray head 2-3 times daily. Apply a thin layer of the Canesten Pumpspray 1% to the affected skin and the adjoining healthy skin. The pumpspray can also be used for spraying footwear.
If the feet are infected, they should be washed and dried thoroughly, especially between the toes, before applying the pumpspray.
The symptoms of the skin infection, such as itching or soreness, should improve within a few days of treatment although signs such as redness and scaling may take longer to disappear.
The patient can help the treatment to work if these simple self-help tips are followed: Although the infected area will itch, try not to scratch. Scratching will damage the surface of the skin and cause the infection to spread further.
Keep affected skin areas clean and dry, but avoid excessive rubbing.
Missed dose: Apply the product (no need to use extra amount) as soon as possible and then continue the rest of the treatment as usual.
Do not use the product if the patient previously had an allergic reaction to clotrimazole or to any of the other ingredients in this product. If the patient is unsure about this, ask a physician.
Consult a physician before using the product.
Not suitable for infant, children under age 12 and women who are pregnant, breast-feeding or trying for a baby.
Stop using the product and consult a physician if symptoms worsen or persist for more than 2 weeks.
Canesten Pumpspray is for external use only and should not be in contact with the eyes, put in the mouth or swallowed. If the previous examples happen, seek medical advice immediately.
As with other medicines, Canesten Pumpspray may cause side effects in some people. The patient may experience a mild burning sensation or irritation immediately after applying the product. If the patient finds this intolerable, stop treatment immediately and ask a physician for advice.
If the patient experiences a rash or the itching worsens soon after the patient starts using Canesten Pumpspray, stop using it and tell a physician immediately as the patient may be allergic to this product.
Signs of an allergic reaction may include: Rash; swallowing or breathing problems; swelling of the lips, face, throat or tongue; weakness, feeling dizzy or faint; nausea.
After the patient applies the Pumpspray the patient might experience: Itching, rash, blister, burning, discomfort, swelling, irritation, redness or peeling of skin.
If the patient experiences the side effects mentioned previously for the first time, or the symptoms persisted, stop using Canesten Pumpspray 1% and consult a physician. If the patient experiences side effects that are not mentioned, please immediately seek advice from physician or pharmacist.
