Description
The product contains 1% of the active ingredient clotrimazole.
Action
Clotrimazole penetrates the affected layers of skin and attacks the fungus, with the consequence that the fungus dies or is inhibited in its growth.
Indications/Uses
Canesten Pumpspray 1% is indicated for the treatment of tinea pedis (Athlete's foot) and tinea cruris only.
Dosage/Direction for Use
If the product has been prescribed by a physician, follow any instructions the physician may have given the patient.
If the patient has purchased this product without a prescription, carefully follow the direction that follows: This product should not be used for more than 2 weeks.
Canesten Pumpspray 1% is to be applied thinly by 1-2 depressions of the spray head 2-3 times daily. Apply a thin layer of the Canesten Pumpspray 1% to the affected skin and the adjoining healthy skin. The pumpspray can also be used for spraying footwear.
If the feet are infected, they should be washed and dried thoroughly, especially between the toes, before applying the pumpspray.
The symptoms of the skin infection, such as itching or soreness, should improve within a few days of treatment although signs such as redness and scaling may take longer to disappear.
The patient can help the treatment to work if these simple self-help tips are followed: Although the infected area will itch, try not to scratch. Scratching will damage the surface of the skin and cause the infection to spread further.
Keep affected skin areas clean and dry, but avoid excessive rubbing.
Missed dose: Apply the product (no need to use extra amount) as soon as possible and then continue the rest of the treatment as usual.
