Ciprofloxacin HCl
Indications/Uses
Corneal ulcers & superficial eye infections & adnexa caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Corneal ulcers Day 1: 2 drops into affected eye(s) every 15 min for the 1st 6 hr, then 2 drops every 30 min for the rest of the day; day 2: 2 drops hrly; days 3-14: 2 drops 4 hrly. Bacterial conjunctivitis 1 or 2 drops into the conjunctival sac(s) 2 hrly for 2 days, then 4 hrly for the next 5 days.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin & other quinolones.
Special Precautions
Contains benzalkonium chloride. Avoid use of soft contact lens, remove prior to application & wait for 15 min for reinsertion. Superinfection. Anaphylactic reactions. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Local burning, ocular discomfort, itching, foreign body sensation, lid margin crusting, crystal/scale formation, conjunctival hyperaemia, taste perversion.
