Hexylresorcinol, benzalkonium chloride solution.
Description
Each lozenge contains 2.5 mg Hexylresorcinol and 1.2 mg Benzalkonium Chloride Solution 50%w/v.
Indications/Uses
Dequasin Extra Lozenge contains Hexylresorcinol which is effective in throat pain relief and an antiseptic; Benzalkonium Chloride is also an antiseptic, providing dual antiseptical effect.
Dequasin Extra - a tasty throat lozenge, with strong pain relief and antiseptic action, is effective in relieving throat pain and throat infection. It also soothes the pain related to the throat infection. It is also effective in killing the germs in the mouth.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adults and children aged 12 years and over: One lozenge every three hours or as required. The stated dose should not be exceeded. Do not take more than 8 lozenges in 24 hours.
Children aged 7 to under 12 years: One lozenge every three hours or as required. The stated dose should not be exceeded. Do not give more than 4 lozenges in 24 hours.
Do not give to children under 7 years of age.
Overdosage
The oral toxic dose of Benzalkonium Chloride is between 1 and 3g. Symptoms of overdose are unlikely with a product containing such a low level. An overdose of Hexylresorcinol may cause minor gastrointestinal irritation.
This product contains levomenthol. Excessive levomenthol intake (more than 50 lozenges) may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, excessive sweating and thirst.
Contraindications
If the patient is allergic to Hexylresorcinol, Benzalkonium Chloride or any of the excipients, he/she must not take the lozenge.
Each lozenge contains 2.5g of total glucose and sucrose. This should be taken into account in patients with diabetes mellitus.

Dequasin Extra Lozenge - Blackberry contains E124 Ponceau 4R and E151 Brilliant Black which may cause allergic reactions.
Use In Pregnancy & Lactation
Consult the doctor before taking this lozenge during pregnancy or when nursing.
Adverse Reactions
Undesirable effects are rare such as local irritations or inflammations in the mouth and throat.

Store below 25°C.
