Description
Egocort Cream 1% contains hydrocortisone in a non-greasy, occlusive ointment-link base which is dissolved for improved effectiveness.
Action
The active ingredient in Egocort Cream 1%, hydrocortisone, reduces inflammation and itching.
Indications/Uses
It is used for the relief of symptoms associated with conditions such as dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply a thin layer 1-2 times daily or as directed by the physician to the affected areas.
Adjunct Therapy: As soap may irritate the skin, cleanse with 'Pinetarsol'.
Contraindications
Vaccinia, chicken pox, herpes and other viral infections, tuberculosis of the skin and syphilitic skin disorders.
Use in children: Do not use on children under 2 years except under medical supervision.
Special Precautions
Be careful not to get Egocort Cream 1% in the eyes. If this happens then rinse the eyes with clean water. If irritation persists tell the doctor or pharmacist.
If irritation or sensitivity occurs discontinue use.
Use in pregnancy & lactation: Hydrocortisone is a category A drug as defined in 'Medicines in Pregnancy - 3rd edition' approved by the Australian Drug Evaluation Committee.
Category A drugs are those which have been taken by a large number of pregnant women and women of child-bearing age without any proven increase in the frequency of malformations or other direct or indirect harmful effects on the foetus having been observed.
