Indications/Uses

Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 200-800 mg daily. Lower UTI 200-400 mg daily. Upper UTI 200-400 mg daily, may be increased to 400 mg bd if necessary. Lower resp tract infection 400 mg daily, may be increased to 400 mg bd if necessary. Uncomplicated urethral & cervical gonorrhoea 400 mg single dose. Non-gonococcal urethritis & cervicitis 400 mg daily in single or divided doses. Skin & soft tissue infection 400 mg bd.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Take 2 hr before or after antacids or supplements containing Fe or Zn. Ensure adequate hydration.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to ofloxacin or other quinolones, severe hepatic or renal impairment, past history of tendinitis. History of epilepsy or lowered seizure threshold. Childn or growing adolescents. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Renal impairment, psychiatric patients or history of psychiatric disease. Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight & UV rays. Prolonged use. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances, headache, dizziness, sleep disorders, restlessness, tachycardia, temporary decrease in BP, rash, itch.
Drug Interactions
Al- & Mg-containing antacids, Fe & Zn salts, sucralfate, theophylline, anticoagulants, probenecid, glibenclamide, cimetidine, frusemide, methotrexate.
