Description
Whey protein powder supplement (instant powder). Clinically free from lactose, free from gluten, fibre free.
Ingredients: Whey protein, emulsifier (soya lecithin).

Indications/Uses
For the dietary management of patients with or at risk of disease related malnutrition in particular with increased protein needs.
Dosage/Direction for Use
To be determined by a health care professional according to patients' needs.
Recommended for supplementary nutrition.
A) Can with spoon: 2-3 times 10-15 g (20-45 g) per day.
B) Sachet: 2-4 sachets (23-46 g) per day.
Contraindications
Not suitable whenever enteral nutrition is not permitted such as in acute gastrointestinal bleeding, ileus and shock. Use with caution in severe organ failure with impaired metabolism and severe forms of malassimilation.
Not suitable for patients with congenital inability to metabolise nutrients contained in Fresubin Protein POWDER.
Special Precautions
To be used under medical supervision. Not suitable as sole source of nutrition. Please monitor potassium (K) levels in patients on a K restricted diet. Not suitable for infants < 1 year. Use with caution in children < 6 years.
Not suitable for patients with galactosaemia. Not for parenteral (I.V.) use.
Storage
Store in a dry place at room temperature. Once can opened should be used within 2 months.
Patient Counseling Information
Can be used in hot or cold, savoury or sweet, foods and liquids (e.g. fruit juices, milk, soups) and prepared meals (e.g. purees).
A) Use in liquids or foods < 70°C: stir 2-3 scoops (10-15 g) into 150 ml liquid or 150 g food. Use in preparations > 70°C, but not cooking: Dissolve 2-3 scoops (10-15 g) in a small amount of liquid (25-50 ml) at room temperature. Add this mixture to 150 ml of the hot liquid or 150 g food directly before serving (max. 10 minutes before serving). Do not boil while or after adding the powder. Fresubin Protein Powder is not suitable for cooking.
B) Use in liquids or foods < 70°C: stir one sachet (11.5 g) into 150 ml liquid or 150 g food. Use in preparations > 70°C, but not cooking: Dissolve one sachet (11.5 g) in a small amount of liquid (25-50 ml) at room temperature. Add this mixture to 150 ml of the hot liquid or 150 g food directly before serving (max. 10 minutes before serving). Do not boil while or after adding the powder. Fresubin Protein Powder is not suitable for cooking.
