Indications/Uses
Treatment of maturity-onset diabetes not controlled by diet alone.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 40-320 mg daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to sulfonylureas. Porphyria. Liver or kidney disease. Childn. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Infection, surgery, serious injury.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, headache, fever, hepatitis, photosensitivity skin reactions, jaundice, skin rash, stomach upset, hypoglycaemia symptoms eg, sweating, trembling, weakness, double vision, palpitations, confusion.
Drug Interactions
β-blockers, ACE inhibitors eg, captopril, AIIA eg, losartan, azapropazone & other NSAIDs, sulfinpyrazone, aminoglutethimide, testosterone, co-trimoxazole, fluconazole, nifedipine, loop diuretics, octreotide, rifamycins, lithium, chloramphenicol, cimetidine, clofibrate, corticosteroids, coumarin derivatives, disopyramide, laxatives, MAOIs, oral miconazole, OC, phenothiazine derivatives, phenylbutazone, salicylates, sulfonamides, tetracyclines, diazoxide, thiazide diuretics, thyroid hormones.
