Granisetron HCl
Indications/Uses
Prevent or treat nausea or vomiting caused by other medical treatments eg, chemo- or radiotherapy for cancer & by surgery.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IV Prevention & treatment of feeling or being sick following radio- or chemotherapy 1-3 mg between 30 sec & 5 min. Max: 9 mg/day. Childn Adjust dose depending on the child's wt, given before radio- or chemotherapy. Max: 2 doses/day, at least 10 min apart. Treatment of feeling or being sick following surgery 1 mg between 30 sec & 5 min. Max: 3 mg/day.
Special Precautions
Patients having problems w/ bowel movement, heart problems & electrolyte abnormalities. Concomitant use w/ other serotonergic &/or neuroleptic drug. Discontinue treatment if serotonin syndrome occurs. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Anaphylaxis. Headache, constipation; sleeping problem (insomnia), change in liver function, diarrhoea.
Drug Interactions
Dolasetron or ondansetron, phenobarb, ketoconazole, erythromycin.

A04AA02 - granisetron ; Belongs to the class of serotonin (5HT3) antagonists. Used for the prevention of nausea and vomiting.
