Chlorphenamine maleate
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment of allergic or vasomotor rhinitis, hay fever, urticaria, angioneurotic oedema, sensitivity  reactions & other itching skin conditions eg pruritus of anal, vulvae & drug rashes, contact dermatitis & insect bites.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 4 mg 4-6 hrly. Max: 24 mg/day. Childn 6-12 yr 2 mg tds-qds. Max: 12 mg/day.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Lactation. Childn <6 yr.
Special Precautions
May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Drowsiness; dryness of mouth, nose, throat; GI disturbances.
Drug Interactions
Alcohol, other CNS depressants, TCAs or atropine. Prolonged antimuscarinic effects w/ MAOIs.
