Hydrogen peroxide is used to cleanse your mouth. It is used to aid the removal of substances such as phlegm, mucus or other secretions.
This medicine may also be used to help relieve irritation of the mouth or gums that are associated with dental procedures, appliance or denture.
Use Hydrogen peroxide exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more or less than instructed by your doctor.
This medicine is available as a mouthwash or as an oral gel.
If you are using the mouthwash, you may dilute and mix it with water. Rinse by swishing it around your mouth for 1 minute and then spit it out.
If you are using the oral gel, apply a few drops to the affected area, leave it for 1 minute and then spit out the gel.
Do not swallow the medicine.
You may stop using this medicine when you no longer have an irritation in your mouth or gums. Hydrogen peroxide should not be used for a long duration unless instructed by the doctor.
Use the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.
DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.
Do not give this medicine to children below 2 years old unless instructed to do so by the doctor.
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens.
Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving this medicine to a child.
Make sure children are under supervision while they are using the medicine.
Handle Hydrogen peroxide with care as it may bleach fabric.
Long term use of Hydrogen peroxide mouthwash or oral gel may cause irritation, swelling or hairy tongue. Avoid use for a long duration unless instructed by the doctor.
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
Protect from light.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
