Indications/Uses
Type IIb hyperlipidemia & a significant risk of CAD, who have not responded to diet or other pharmacological therapy alone. Severe primary hyperlipidemia (types IV & V hyperlipidemia) & a significant risk of CAD or pancreatitis, who have not responded to diet or other measures alone.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 1.2 g/day in 2 divided doses.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 30 min before meals.
Contraindications
Hepatic or severe renal dysfunction, primary biliary cirrhosis, preexisting gallbladder disease.
Special Precautions
Perform lipid profile, blood count & liver function tests before & during therapy.
Adverse Reactions
Stomach pain, gas or heartburn, diarrhoea, nausea or vomiting, rash, unusual fatigue, wt gain, headache, dizziness, pruritus, alopecia, anemia or leukopenia, gallstones & myositis.
Drug Interactions
Coumarin, indandione-derivative anticoagulants, lovastatin.
