Indomethacin
Indications/Uses
Treatment of RA, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, other rheumatic disorders & acute gout.
Dosage/Direction for Use
25 mg bd-qds, may be increased to 150-200 mg daily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Peptic ulcer or history of GI lesions.
Special Precautions
Bleeding disorders, epilepsy, parkinsonism, psychiatric disorders, cardiac failure. Hepatic & renal impairment. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <14 yr. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, dizziness or lightheadedness, GI disturbances, depression, tinnitus & blurred vision w/ prolonged therapy; GI ulceration & bleeding, oedema, wt gain & skin rashes.
Drug Interactions
Enhanced ulceregenic effect w/ alcohol or other anti-inflammatory prep. Increased incidence of GI side effects w/ aspirin & other salicylates. Frusemide, anticoagulants, lithium, probenecid.
