Supply of amino acids in parenteral nutrition of patients w/ renal failure, when oral or enteral feeding is impossible, insufficient, or contraindicated.
Adjust dose based on individual patient requirements. Acute & chronic renal failure w/o dialysis
6-8 mL/kg/day. Acute & chronic renal failure under dialysis
8-12 mL/kg/day. For intradialytic nutrition in patients receiving long term haemodialysis
5-8 mL/kg/dialysis. Max daily dose: 8-12 mL/kg, or 560-840 mL in patient weighing 70 kg. Max infusion rates: Parenteral nutrition
0.1 g amino acids/kg/hr; Intradialytic nutrition
0.2 g amino acids/kg/hr.
Hypersensitivity. Inborn errors of amino acid metabolism; acute shock; acute pulmonary edema, hyperhydration, decompensated cardiac insufficiency & hypotonic dehydration. Severe renal insufficiency w/o access to hemofiltration or dialysis. Severe hepatic impairment.
Use w/ caution in patients w/ hyponatremia or elevated serum osmolarity. Monitor fluid balance, serum electrolyte levels, acid-base balance, serum urea & blood ammonia levels; blood glucose, serum protein, creatinine & liver function tests. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
