Distilled witch hazel.
Optrex also contains the following excipients: Boric acid, borax, benzalkonium chloride, purified water.
Pharmacology: Pharmacodynamics: Distilled witch hazel (Hamamelis water) has cooling and astringent properties.
Soothes, cools and refreshes tired and sore eyes.
For the relief of minor eye irritations caused by dusty or smoky atmospheres, driving or close work.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Eye Lotion: Adults, Elderly and Children >3 years: Use ≥3 times daily.
Administration: For tropical administration to the eye.
Eye Lotion: Always clean the eyebath by boiling in water before use. Fill 1/3 full. Pour gently with neck of the bottle resting on the edge of the eyebath. Do not dilute the solution. Bend head slightly forward and holding the eyebath by its base, apply it to the eye. Rock the head form side to side for at least ½ min, keeping the eyelid open so that the lotion flows freely over the eye and under the lids. Repeat with fresh lotion to the other eye. Never re-apply used lotion. To cleanse without the eyebath, pour lotion onto clean cottonwool and gently wipe the eye lid.
Hypersensitivity to distilled witch hazel or to any of the excipients of Optrex.
Special Precautions
For external use only. Like all other eye care products containing benzalkonium chloride, Optrex is not suitable for use whilst or 30 min before wearing hydrophilic (soft) contact lenses.
Adverse Reactions
Occasional hypersensitivity reactions.
Caution For Usage
Discard 3 months (eye lotion) after first opening.
Eye Lotion: Store below 30°C.
Shelf-Life: 3 years.
