Ibuprofen
Indications/Uses
Treatment of RA, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthrosis & other non-rheumatoid arthropathies. Also indicated in frozen shoulder, bursitis, tendinitis, tenosynovitis, low-back pain & in soft-tissue injuries eg, sprains & strains. Analgesic in dysmenorrhoea & during dental & post-op pain.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 600-1,200 mg daily in divided doses. In severe cases, may be increased to 1,600 mg daily in divided doses. Dental or post-op pain Initially 800 mg. Max: 2,400 mg. Childn 20 mg/kg daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take immediately after meals.
Contraindications
Severe or active peptic ulceration. Pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Asthmatic patients especially those who have developed bronchospasm after receiving other NSAIDs.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, skin rashes, dyspepsia & GI disturbances.
Drug Interactions
Oral anticoagulants, thiazide diuretics.
