Relief of bronchospasm in bronchial asthma; chronic bronchitis, emphysema; management of premature labor.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Initially 2 mg tds or qds. Usual Effective Dose: 4 mg tds or qds, may be increased up to 8 mg tds or qds. Childn >12 yr 2-4 mg tds or qds, 6-12 yr 2 mg tds or qds, 2-6 yr 1-2 mg tds or qds. Premature labor IV infusion followed by 4-mg tab tds or qds.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals.
Contraindications
Threatened abortion during the 1st or 2nd trimester of pregnancy. Tocolysis. Patients w/ galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, glucose-galactose malabsorption.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ thyrotoxicosis, diabetes, preexisting heart disease. Monitor K levels for patients w/ severe asthma. Childn <2 yr. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Skeletal muscle fine tremors, peripheral vasodilation, compensatory tachycardia, headache.
