Doxorubicin HCl
Indications/Uses
Breast, ovarian, thyroid, gastric, bladder or bronchogenic carcinoma; Hodgkin's lymphoma, acute lymphoblastic or myeloblastic leukemia, neuroblastoma, Wilm's tumor, bone & soft tissue sarcoma.
Dosage/Direction for Use
60-75 mg/m2 IV every 3 wk. Cumulative dose of 450-550 mg/m2 should only be exceeded w/ caution.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to anthracyclines. Severe myelosuppression; severe arrhythmia, myocardial insufficiency, MI. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Monitor blood counts & ECG before & during each cycle. Hepatic impairment. Elderly. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia, cardiotoxicity, alopecia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, inj site reactions. Mucositis, skin rash, fever, hyperuricemia, amenorrhea, anaphylaxis, bronchospasm, dyspnea.
Drug Interactions
Concurrent radiotherapy. Cyclosporin (high dose), propranolol, heparin.
