Pentoxifylline
Indications/Uses
Treatment of peripheral occlusive arterial disease & arteriovenous disorders (eg, intermittent claudication or rest pain), trophic disturbances (eg, gangrene & leg ulcers), Cerebrovascular disorders (sequel to cerebral arteriosclerosis eg, difficulties in concentration, vertigo, impairment of memory).
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 tab bd-tds. Impaired renal function (CrCl <10 mL/min) 1 or 2 tab once daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
Acute MI, risk of bleeding, especially recent cerebral or retinal hemorrhage or active bleeding. Pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Severe CAD, hypotension, cerebrovascular disease, hepatic or renal impairment. Lactation. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, GI disturbances, dizziness, headache, flushing, angina, palpitation, cardiac arrhythmia, hypersensitivity reactions.
Drug Interactions
Anticoagulants, platelet aggregation inhibitors & thrombolytic agents, antihypertensive medications, ketorolac.
