Indications/Uses
Symptomatic relief of bladder outlet obstruction associated w/ benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 4 mg bd after breakfast & evening meal. Dose may be reduced if necessary.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Administer carefully in patients w/ orthostatic hypotension; impaired hepatic & renal function. Reports of abnormal ejaculation; intraoperative floppy iris syndrome (IFIS). Concomitant use w/ phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE-5) inhibitors; hypotensive agents. Exercise caution when engaging in hazardous activities eg, working at heights or driving a car. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Abnormal ejaculation (eg, retrograde ejaculation), thirst, diarrhea, loose stools, dizziness on standing up, nasal congestion, dizziness, light-headedness, & headache; increased triglycerides, CRP, ALT (GPT), AST (GOT), γ-GTP.
Drug Interactions
Elevated plasma conc w/ potent CYP3A4 inhibitors eg, azole antifungals (eg, ketoconazole, itraconazole). Risk of orthostatic hypotension w/ hypotensive agents. Risk of symptomatic hypotension w/ PDE-5 inhibitors eg, sildenafil citrate, vardenafil HCl hydrate.
