Indications/Uses
Upper resp infections (pharyngitis, sinusitis, otitis media, tonsillitis, laryngo-tracheo bronchitis). Lower resp infections (acute & chronic bronchitis, lobar & bronchopneumonia). UTI (cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis). Skin & soft tissue infections (abscess, cellulitis, furunculosis, impetigo).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 1 tab qds. Childn 6-12 yr 1 tab bd.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Allergy to cephalosporin antibiotics. Children <6 yr.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ renal insufficiency (modify dose according to CrCl or serum creatinine levels). Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Allergic reactions (skin rashes, urticaria, pruritis). Haematological effects (eosinophilia, thrombocythemia). GI effects (diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain). Transient increase in the transaminases ASAT & ALAT. Nephrotoxicity, changes in renal function were observed in association w/ antibiotics from the same group, particularly when treatment was combined w/ aminoglycosides & powerful diuretics.
