Special Precautions
Safety and efficacy are not established in pregnancy and lactation. Caution when used in patients with asthma or breathing disorders, DM, primary biliary cirrhosis, ileostomy, neurodegenerative disorders (like Parkinsonism or Alzheimer's disease), diverticular disease, short bowel syndrome, celiac disease and sitosterolaemia. History of gallstones.
Adverse Reactions
May cause constipation, diarrhoea, difficulty breathing and nausea.
Drug Interactions
Activated charcoal may slightly reduce serum levels of beta sitosterol. Concurrent admin with ezetimibe may reduce serum levels of beta sitosterol in patients with sitosterolaemia. May have synergistic effects when used with HMG-coenzyme A reductase inhibitors.
