Amoxicillin trihydrate
Indications/Uses
Skin & soft tissue, resp tract & GUT infections; gonorrhoeae.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Caplet Adult & childn >20 kg 250-500 mg every 8 hr. Childn <20 kg 20-40 mg/kg daily in divided doses every 8 hr. Peritoneal dialysis Max dose: 500 mg daily. Gonococcal urethritis 3 g as a single dose. Dry syr Childn >8 kg 125 mg.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to β-lactam antibiotics.
Special Precautions
Lymphatic leukemia, severe colitis. Superinfection. Do not use as a long-term therapy. Renal failure. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Rashes, urticaria, serum sickness, hypersensitivity, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hematological reaction (reversible).
Drug Interactions
Probenecid, allopurinol.
