Micronized purified flavonoid fraction.
Description
Ardium 1000 mg tablet is Citrus sinensis extract, containing Micronized Purified Flavonoid Fraction 1000 mg, corresponding to: diosmin 90%, flavonoid in the form of hesperidin 10%.
Action
Pharmacotherapeutic group: Vasoprotectives/Capillary Stabilizing Agents/Bioflavonoids. ATC Code: C05CA53: Vascular System.
Pharmacology: Pharmacodynamics: Ardium 1000 mg exerts a dual action on the venous return system: at the vein and venule level, it increases parietal tone;
at the microcirculatory level, it reinforces capillary resistance and normalises capillary permeability.
Pharmacokinetics: In man, following oral administration of the medicinal product with carbon 14-labelled Diosmin: Excretion is essentially faecal and urinary excretion is on average 14% of the administered quantity.
The elimination half-life is 11 hours.
The product is highly metabolised as evidenced by the presence of various phenol acids in the urine.
Toxicology: Preclinical Safety Data: Preclinical data from conventional toxicology studies of repeated dose toxicity, genotoxicity and reproductive function did not reveal any particular risk to humans.
Indications/Uses
Help to treat functional symptoms related to acute and chronic haemorroidal attack.
Help to treat venous insufficiency syndrome such as varicose veins.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Acute Haemorrhoidal: 3 tablets per day for the first 4 days, then 2 tablets per day for 3 days.
Chronic Haemorrhoidal and Venous Insufficiency Syndrome: 1 tablet daily.
At meal times.
Overdosage
No cases of overdose have been reported.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the micronized purified flavonoid fraction or to any of the excipients.
Ardium 1000 mg tablet is safe for long term treatment.
Special Precautions
Use of the product can cause constipation, dyspepsia and nausea.
For patients that have hypersensitivity condition or allergy with micronized purified flavonoid fraction should be careful because it could cause the allergy reaction such as dermatitis, lip swelling.
The administration of this product does not preclude specific treatment for other anal conditions. The treatment must be short-term. If symptoms do not subside promptly, a proctological examination should be performed and the treatment should be reviewed.
Effects On Ability to Drive and Use Machines: No specific studies on the effects of flavonoid fraction on the ability to drive and use machines have been performed. However, on the basis of the overall safety profile of flavonoid fraction, Ardium 1000 does not modify, or to a negligible extent, the ability to drive or use machines.
Use In Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy: Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Experimental studies performed in animals have not revealed any teratogenic effect. Moreover, no harmful effects have been reported to date in human.
Breast-feeding: In absence of data concerning excretion into breast milk, breast feeding is not recommended during treatment.
Fertility: Reproductive toxicity studies showed no effect on fertility in male and female rats.
Adverse Reactions
The following undesirable effects have been reported and are ranked using the following frequency: Very common (≥1/10 ); common (≥1/100, <1/10 ); uncommon (≥1/1000, <1/100); rare (≥1/10000, <1/1000); very rare (< 1/10000), and not known (cannot be estimated from the available data).
Nervous system disorders: Rare: dizziness, headaches, malaise.
Gastrointestinal disorders: Common: diarrhoea, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting.
Uncommon: colitis.
Frequency not known: abdominal pain.
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: Rare: rash, pruritus, urticaria.
Frequency not known: isolated face, eyelid and lip oedema. Exceptionally, Quincke's oedema.
Reporting of suspected adverse reactions: Reporting suspected adverse reactions after authorisation of the medicinal product is important. It allows continued monitoring of the benefit/risk balance of the medicinal product. Healthcare professionals are asked to report any suspect ed adverse reactions via the national declaration system.
Drug Interactions
No interaction studies have been performed. However, no cases of drug interaction have been reported since the marketing of the product.

Store in cold and dry condition.
Protect from direct sunlight.
