Mefenamic acid
Indications/Uses
Relief of mild to moderate pain of traumatic, arthritic or muscular origin, post-op & postpartum pain, dysmenorrhea, headache, dental pain.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >14 yr Initially 500 mg, followed by 250 mg 6 hrly.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take immediately after meals.
Contraindications
GI ulcer, asthma, kidney disease.
Special Precautions
Patients in whom aspirin & other NSAIDs precipitate symptoms of bronchospasm, allergic rhinitis or urticaria. Pregnancy. Childn <14 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, dizziness, stomach bleeding.
Drug Interactions
Oral anticoagulants.
