Salbutamol sulphate
Indications/Uses
Relief of mild, moderate or severe asthma.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Relief of acute bronchospasm Adult 100 or 200 mcg. Childn 100 mcg. May increase dose to 200 mcg. Prevention of allergen or exercise-induced bronchospasm Adult 200 mcg before challenge. Childn 100 mcg before challenge, may be increased to 200 mcg. Chronic therapy Adult Up to 200 mcg 4 times daily Childn Up to 200 mcg 4 times daily. Max: 4 times daily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Thyrotoxicosis, hypokalemia. Acute severe asthma may be potentiated by concomitant treatment w/ xanthine derivates, steroids, diuretics. Hypoxia. Monitor serum K levels.
Adverse Reactions
Tremor, headache, peripheral vasodilatation, small increase in heart rate, hypersensitivity reactions (eg, angioderma, urticaria, bronchospasm, hypotension, collapse), muscle cramps, potentially serious hypokalemia, cardiac arrhythmia, tachycardia.
Drug Interactions
Non-selective β-blocking drugs eg, propranolol.

R03AC02 - salbutamol ; Belongs to the class of adrenergic inhalants, selective beta-2-adrenoreceptor agonists. Used in the treatment of obstructive airway diseases.
