Contents
Amoxycillin trihydrate
Indications/Uses
Resp tract, GUT, skin & soft tissue infection. Gonorrhoeae.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >20 kg 250-500 mg 8 hrly. Childn <20 kg 20-40 mg/kg daily in divided doses.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to β-lactam antibiotics (penicillins, cephalosporin).
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity w/ amoxicillin, renal impairment, lymphatic leukemia. Severe colitis can occur. Prolonged therapy. Superinfection. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Hypersensitivity. Serious & fatal hypersensitivity reaction. GI disturbances. Haematological reactions.
Drug Interactions
Probenecid can increase & prolong plasma conc of amoxicillin. Allopurinol increases incidence of skin rashes.
