Fluvoxamine maleate
Indications/Uses
Depressive illness & symptoms of depressive disorder.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 50-100 mg daily. Usual effective dose: 100 mg/day. Max: 300 mg/day. Prevention of recurrence of depression 100 mg single daily dose.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. In combination w/ MAOIs. Lactation.
Special Precautions
Hepatic or renal insufficiency. History of convulsive disorders. Cutaneous bleeding abnormalities. Concomitant treatment w/ serotonergic drugs, SSRIs. Pregnancy. Childn. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting.
Drug Interactions
MAOIs, drugs w/ narrow therapeutic index (eg, warfarin, phenytoin, theophylline, cyclosporine, taurine, methadone, clozapine, & carbamazepine), benzodiazepines, TCAs & neuroleptics, thioridazine, propranolol, lithium, alcohol.
