Pilocarpine HCl
Indications/Uses
Papillary constriction & reduction of IOP.
Dosage/Direction for Use
2 drops 3-4 times daily.
Contraindications
Undesirable papillary constriction conditions eg, acute iritis, anterior uveitis & papillary block glaucoma. Patients on contact lenses.
Special Precautions
Perform fundus examination prior to initiation of therapy. Regular monitoring of IOP & visual fields in patients w/ chronic simple glaucoma on long-term therapy. Caution when involved in night driving or other hazardous activities in poor light. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Burning, itching, smarting, blurred vision, ciliary spasm, conjunctival vascular congestion, induced myopia, sensitization of the lids & conjuctiva, reduced visual acuity in poor illumination, lens opacity on prolonged use, increased papillary block, retinal detachments, temporal or suborbital headache.
