Pefloxacin
Indications/Uses
Severe infections caused by susceptible gm -ve & gm+ve pathogens; UTI.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 caplet 2 times daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
G6PD deficiency. History of tendon lesions, tendinitis or tendon rupture. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <15 yr.
Special Precautions
Avoid exposure to sunlight or UV light. Adjust dose in severe hepatic insufficiency.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances, muscle &/or joint pains, neurological disturbances, hypersensitivity reactions, photosensitivity, tendinitis, ruptured Achilles' tendon. Thrombocytopenia (high doses).

Drug Interactions
May potentiate theophylline effects. Efficacy reduced by Al-/Mg-based antacids.
