Doripenem
Indications/Uses
Nosocomial pneumonia (including ventilator-associated pneumonia) & complicated intra-abdominal infections.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IV infusion Nosocomial pneumonia 500 mg every 8 hr by 1 or 4 hr infusion. Complicated intra-abdominal infections 500 mg every 8 hr by 1 hr infusion. Duration of treatment: 5-14 days.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to doripenem, any other carbapenem & β-lactam antibacterial agent.
Special Precautions
Anaphylactic reactions. History of hypersensitivity reactions to other carbapenem or β-lactam antibiotics.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, diarrhoea, pruritus, rash, phlebitis, headache, oral candidiasis, vulvomycotic infection, elevated hepatic enzyme.
Drug Interactions
Valproic acid, probenecid.
