Ethambutol HCl
Indications/Uses
Pulmonary TB.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initial treatment: 15 mg/kg once daily. Re-treatment: 25 mg/kg/day for 60 days. Thereafter 15 mg/kg/day.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Optic neuritis.
Special Precautions
Gout, reduced visual acuity. Severe renal impairment.
Adverse Reactions
Retrobulbar neuritis w/ a reduction of visual acuity, central scotoma & red-green colour blindness. Increase of serum transaminase, SLE, GIT disturbance.
Drug Interactions
Ethambutol may reduce efficacy of uricosuric agents.
