Indications/Uses
As adjunct therapy in the secondary generalized seizures in patients not satisfactorily controlled by standard anticonvulsants either in single or combination therapy. As adjunct therapy or anticonvulsant therapy in mild or complex seizures.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr 900-1,800 mg/day. 1st day: 300 mg once daily. 2nd day: 300 mg twice daily. 3rd day: 300 mg 3 times daily. Patient w/ impaired kidney function w/ CrCl 60-90 mL/min 400 mg 3 times daily, 30-60 mL/min 300 mg twice daily, 15-30 mL/min 300 mg once daily <15 mL/min 300 mg every 2 days. Hemodialysis patient Initial dose: 300-400 mg. Maintenance dose: 200-300 mg 4 hr after hemodialysis.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Adverse Reactions
Drowsiness, dizziness, loss of balance, tiredness, headache, tremor, blurred vision, rhinitis, nausea, vomiting.
