Trimetazidine diHCl
Indications/Uses
Adjunctive to established antiangina.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 tab twice daily. Patients w/ moderate renal impairment (CrCl 30-60 mL/min) & elderly 1 tab once daily in the morning.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Parkinson's disease, parkinsonian symptoms, tremors, restless leg syndrome, & other related movement disorders. Severe renal impairment (CrCl <30 mL/min). Use in nursing mothers is generally inadvisable.
Special Precautions
Not a curative treatment for angina attacks, nor as initial treatment for unstable angina, nor MI, nor before or during hospitalisation. Reevaluate CHD in the event of an angina attack. May cause or worsen Parkinsonian symptoms. Definitive w/drawal of trimetazidine in the occurrence of movement disorders. Patients taking antihypertensives may experience falls related to gait instability or hypotension. Severe hepatic failure. Moderate renal impairment. Avoid use during pregnancy. Childn <18 yr. Elderly >75 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Dizziness, headache; abdominal pain, diarrhoea, dyspepsia, nausea & vomiting; rash, pruritus, urticaria; asthenia.
