Diclofenac K
Indications/Uses
Short term treatment of acute post-traumatic pain eg, sprain, post-op pain & inflammation eg, tooth operation or orthopaedy. Adjuvant therapy in severe painful inflammation of ENT infection eg, tonsillopharyngitis & otitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Max: 100 mg daily in divided doses w/ shortest duration. Max of initial dose: 150 mg daily in the 1st day of therapy.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take immediately after meals.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Gastric ulcer. Patients w/ history of NSAID-induced asthma, urticaria or rhinitis. Ischaemic heart, peripheral arterial & cerebrovascular disease. CHF (NYHA II-IV).
Special Precautions
Patients w/ GI disorders, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease or history of gastric ulcer; heart or kidney impairment, under diuretic therapy & w/ extracellular vol depletion. Patient w/ hepatic porfiria & severe liver disease. May impair the ability to drive the vehicle or operate the machinery. Pregnancy & lactation. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
GI, CNS & peripheral nerve system, skin, urogenital, hematological effects. Increased SGOT/SGPT, hepatitis w/ or w/o jaundice, fulminant hepatitis. Hypersensitivity reactions eg, asthma, systemic anaphylaxis/anaphylactoid reactions. Edema.
Drug Interactions
Lithium, digoxin, NSAIDs, cyclosporins.
