Contents
Purified Vi capsular polysaccharide of Salmonella typhi
Indications/Uses
Prevention of typhoid fever in adults & childn >2 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
0.5 mL SC or IM as single inj. Revaccination every 3 yr if risk of exposure continues.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to vaccine components, formaldehyde or casein. Postpone vaccination in acute febrile disease. Pregnancy. Childn <2 yr.
Special Precautions
Anaphylactic reaction. Not to be inj intravascularly. Not for protection against Salmonella paratyphi A or B or non-typhoidal salmonella. Postpone vaccination in case of fever or severe infection. Thrombocytopenia or bleeding disorders; syncope. Not recommended during pregnancy. Lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Myalgia; inj site pain. Cephalalgia; inj site erythema, swelling, oedema/induration, malaise, fever, fatigue/asthenia.
