Purified Vi capsular polysaccharide of Salmonella typhi
Indications/Uses
Prevention of typhoid fever for adults & childn >2 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
0.5 mL deep SC or IM as single inj. Provides protection for a min period of 2 yr.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Pregnancy. Childn <2 yr.
Special Precautions
Postpone administration in case of fever or severe infection. Syncope can occur. May be accompanied by transient sight disorders, paraesthesia & tonic‐clonic limb movements during recovery phase. Not normally used in pregnancy or during lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Slight local pain, inflammation or local induration, pain, swelling or erythema, local induration, slight temp rise, transient systemic reactions (fever, headache, malaise or nausea). Vasovagal syncope in response to inj, cephalgia.
