Ipratropium Br
Bronchodilator for maintenance treatment of bronchospasm associated w/ COPD including chronic bronchitis, emphysema & asthma.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >6 yr 2 puffs qds. Max: 12 puffs daily.
Hypersensitivity to ipratropium Br, atropine or its derivatives.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity. Discontinue use if paradoxical bronchospam occurs. Narrow-angle glaucoma; pre-existing urinary outflow tract obstruction eg, prostatic hypertrophy, bladder-neck obstruction; cystic fibrosis. Avoid contact w/ eyes. May affect ability to drive & use machines. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, dizziness; throat irritation, cough; dry mouth, GI motility disorders (eg, constipation, diarrhoea, vomiting), nausea.
Drug Interactions
Intensified bronchodilatory effect by β-adrenergics & xanthine prep. Not recommended w/ other anticholinergic drugs.
