Loratadine 5 mg, pseudoephedrine sulphate 120 mg
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic relief of allergic rhinitis & common cold including nasal congestion, sneezing, rhinorrhea, pruritus & lacrimation.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥12 yr 1 cap bd.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity or idiosyncrasy to loratadine, pseudoephedrine sulphate, adrenergic agents or drugs of similar chemical structure. Narrow-angle glaucoma, urinary retention, severe HTN & CAD, hyperthyroidism. Patients receiving MAOI therapy or w/in 14 days of discontinuation.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use approx 48 hr prior to skin testing. Glaucoma, stenosing peptic ulcer, pyloroduodenal obstruction, prostatic hypertrophy or bladder neck obstruction, CV disease, increased IOP or DM. Concomitant use w/ digitalis. Prolonged & high-dose use. Avoid abrupt w/drawal. Severe hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <12 yr. Elderly ≥60 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Insomnia, dry mouth, headache, somnolence.
Drug Interactions
Increased plasma conc w/ ketoconazole, erythromycin, cimetidine. Hypertensive reactions including hypertensive crises w/ MAOIs. Reduced antihypertensive effects of methyldopa, mecamylamine, reserpine, veratum alkaloids. Increased ectopic pacemaker activity w/ digitalis. Increased absorption rate w/ antacids. Decreased absorption rate w/ kaolin. Concomitant use w/ β-blockers.
