ChlorSept 0.5% Chlorhexidine gluconate 0.5% w/v, isopropryl alcohol 75% v/v. ChlorSept 2% Chlorhexidine gluconate 2% w/v, isopropryl alcohol 70% v/v
Indications/Uses
Pre-op & invasive procedures skin antiseptic & disinfectant.
Dosage/Direction for Use
ChlorSept 0.5% Pre-op surgical hand disinfectant Spread & rub 5 mL vigorously over both hands & forearms. Apply further 5 mL & repeat procedure when dry. Antiseptic hand disinfectant Spread & rub 3 mL vigorously over hands & wrist until dry. Pre-op patient's skin disinfectant Apply to sterile swab & rub over op site for min of 2 min. ChlorSept 2% Apply min undiluted amount & allow to dry.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if signs or symptoms of hypersensitivity reactions develop. Not to be used in patients w/ history of chlorhexidine allergy. ChlorSept 2% Not to be used w/ electrocautery procedures or other ignition sources until completely dry.
Drug Interactions
Reduced activity w/ suspending agents (eg, alginates, tragacanth), insoluble powders (eg, kaolin), Ca, Mg, Zn insoluble compd. Incompatible w/ oxidizing agents eg, hydrogen peroxide, nitric acid. May be salted out from aq mixt by addition of NaCl, Na sulfate, Na hydroxide.
