Indications/Uses
Disorders associated w/ progesterone deficiency: Infertility due to inadequate luteal phase; for use during in vitro fertilization (IVF), where infertility is mainly due to tubal, idiopathic or endometriosis-linked sterility associated w/ normal ovulatory cycles.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Infertility due to inadequate luteal phase 1 intravag application daily, starting after documented ovulation or arbitrarily on day 18-21 of the cycle. When used during IVF Daily application should be continued for 30 days if there is laboratory evidence of pregnancy.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to progesterone. Undiagnosed vag bleeding, known or suspected progesterone-sensitive malignant tumors, porphyria.
Special Precautions
Breakthrough bleeding as in all cases of irregular vag bleeding, nonfunction causes should be considered. In cases of undiagnosed vag bleeding, adequate diagnostic measures should be taken. Discontinue treatment on missed abortion. Increased risk for thromboembolism. Avoid concurrent use w/ intravag prep. May cause local skin reaction or vag irritation due to sorbic acid. Severe hepatic insufficiency. May affect ability to drive & use machines. 2nd & 3rd trimesters of pregnancy. Not to be used during lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, somnolence, breast tenderness, vag irritation, itching or burning. Hypersensitivity eg, rash, mild application site reaction, intermenstrual bleeding (spotting).
Drug Interactions
Not to be used concurrently w/ other local vag prep.
