Indications/Uses
Emergency postcoital contraception.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 tab w/in 12 hr & not later than 72 hr after unprotected intercourse.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Not to be used as conventional contraception. Severe malabsorption syndromes eg, Crohn's disease. History of salpingitis. Galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, glucose-galactose malabsorption. Not recommended in severe hepatic dysfunction. Not recommended in patients at risk of ectopic pregnancy. Not to be given during pregnancy. Lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Headache; nausea, lower abdominal pain; bleeding disturbances; fatigue. Dizziness; diarrhoea, vomiting; delayed/irregular menstruation, breast tenderness.
Drug Interactions
Enhanced metabolism w/ liver enzyme inducers. Reduced plasma levels w/ efavirenz, barbiturates (including primidone), phenytoin, carbamazepine, St. John's wort, rifampicin, ritonavir, rifabutin, griseofulvin. Inhibited ciclosporin metabolism.
