Hyoscine-N-butylbromide
Indications/Uses
Spasmodic pain, oesophageal spasm, cholecystitis, choledocholithiasis, dysuria & pollakisuria, spasmodic dysmenorrhoea.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Cap/tab 1-2 cap tds-qds. Syr Adult & childn >6 yr 10 mL tds.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Closed-angle glaucoma, prostatic enlargement, paralytic ileus, pyloric stenosis; gastric or duodenal ulcer, urinary retention.
Special Precautions
Myasthenia gravis, fever. Tachycardia, cardiac insufficiency; phenylketonuria. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Hepatic or renal impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Dry mouth, difficulty in swallowing, thirst, mydriasis, cycloplegia, photophobia, flushing, dry skin; vomiting, giddiness, retrosternal pain, CNS depression, coma, circulatory & resp failure; anaphylactic shock, skin reactions, dyspnoeal urinary retention.
Drug Interactions
Anticholinergics eg, TCAs, antihistamines, quinidine, amantadine, disopyramide, tiotropium, ipratropium; dopamine antagonists eg, metoclopramide; β-adrenergic agents.
