Description
Fybogel Orange is gluten- and sugar-free in a natural orange flavoured base containing aspartame sweetener and β-carotene colour.
Action
Clinical evidence increasingly supports the treatment of some pressure and motility disorders of the colon by a daily regimen of natural fibre. Daily Fybogel Orange therapy provides 7 g of natural fibre (with a capacity to retain 40 times its own weight of water), thus preventing increased colonic segmentation and thereby avoiding high intracolonic pressures as well as reducing transit time. High pressure straining episodes are also avoided as evacuation of the faeces is easily achieved.
Indications/Uses
Conditions requiring a high fibre regimen; adjunct in the treatment of haemorrhoids, irritable colon syndrome, diverticular disease and anal fissure.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adults and Children >12 years: 1 sachet in the morning and evening. Children <12 years: Only when prescribed. Dose: ½-1 level of 5-mL spoonful (or 2.5-5 mL) twice daily, depending on age and size. To be stirred into a glass of water and taken immediately after meals.
There is no indication that dosage should be modified for the elderly.
Overdosage
In the event of overdosage, conservative measures should be followed.
The patient may notice abdominal discomfort and flatulence, and attention should be paid in maintaining an adequate fluid intake, particularly if the granules have been taken without water, contrary to the administration instruction.
