Levocetirizine diHCl
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinitis (including persistent allergic rhinitis) & chronic idiopathic urticaria.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥12 yr 5 mg once daily; 6-12 yr 5 mg once daily. Adult & childn ≥12 yr w/ mild renal impairment (CrCl 50-80 mL/min) 5 mg once daily; moderate renal impairment (CrCl 30-50 mL/min) 5 mg once every other day; severe renal impairment (CrCl 10-30 mL/min) 5 mg twice wkly (once every 3-4 days).
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to levocetirizine or cetirizine. Patients w/ end-stage renal disease (CrCl <10 mL/min) & undergoing hemodialysis. Childn 6-11 yr w/ renal impairment.
Special Precautions
Avoid concomitant use w/ alcohol. Galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <6 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Dry mouth, headache, fatigue, somnolence.
Drug Interactions
Ritonavir.
