Per mL 30% soluble insulin & 70% isophane insulin (rDNA origin)
Dosage/Direction for Use
Individualized dosage. 0.3-1 IU/kg daily.
Hypersensitivity. Hypoglycaemia.
Special Precautions
Type 1 DM. Activity or diet changes. Transfer to another type or brand of insulin should be done under medical supervision. Inj site reactions. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Renal or hepatic impairment. Insulin requirement changes during pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Hypoglycaemia. Acute painful neuropathy. Temporary worsening of diabetic retinopathy. Lipodystrophy. Inj site reactions eg, redness, swelling, itching, pain & haematoma. Oedema. Urticaria, rash.
Drug Interactions
Deterioration in cardiac symptoms w/ pioglitazone. Reduced insulin requirement by oral hypoglycaemic agents, MAOIs, nonselective β-blocking agents, ACE inhibitors, salicylates, alcohol, anabolic steroids, sulphonamides. Increased insulin requirement by OCs, thiazides, glucocorticoids, thyroid hormones, β-sympathomimetics, growth hormone, danazol. Increased & decreased insulin requirement by octreotide/lanreotide. Intensified & prolonged hypoglycaemic effect w/ alcohol.
